With completion of partial manufature of Kaplan Turbine of KHP, BHSL now had manufactured all three kinds of turbines viz. Pelton, Francis and Kaplan used in Hydropower plants in Bhutan. The old kaplan turbine underwent major refurbishment due to heavy erosion of the runner blades. Some parts of the runner have been manufactured at BHSL, while the runner blades were recreated to their original shape and dimension using advanced welding and CNC machining. The efficiency of this runner shall be assessed after installation is planned in 2024.
